Unlike the Older Person's, Disability and Child Support grants, which pay on fixed dates, SRD payments run in batches spread across roughly the last two weeks of the month because each application is re-verified before payment.

Why Your SASSA SRD Grant Was Declined
SASSA checks your application against SARS, UIF, NSFAS, Home Affairs and banking records every single month. Here are the six most common reasons for a decline and how to fix each one.

Your household income is above R624 a month, based on SARS or bank records.
Fix: Reapply once your income drops below R624. Include recent bank statements as proof.
🏦 Receiving another SASSA grant
You're already getting an Older Person's, Disability, or Child Support grant.
Fix: You can't hold both. Choose which grant to keep.
📋 Active UIF claim
UIF records show you're receiving unemployment benefits.
Fix: Wait until your UIF payments end fully, then reapply.
🪪 ID verification failed
Your ID details don't match the Home Affairs database.
Fix: Visit your nearest SASSA office with your ID book to correct your details.
🏧 Wrong banking details
Your account number is wrong or the account is closed.

🎓 NSFAS funding detected
You're receiving an NSFAS bursary or stipend.

How to Appeal a Declined SRD Application
Go to srd.sassa.gov.za
Open the official SASSA SRD site on your phone or computer.
Click "Appeal" or "Lodge an Appeal"

Who Qualifies for the SRD Grant?
SASSA rechecks these criteria every single month, so even an approved status can change if your circumstances change.

Is the R370 Grant Ending? What Happens After March 2027
The SRD grant has been extended repeatedly since it launched in May 2020. The 2026 Budget confirmed a further extension, backed by a dedicated R36.4 billion allocation, keeping payments running at R370 a month through 31 March 2027.

Most permanent SASSA grants received an above-inflation, 3.5% increase from 1 April 2026. The SRD grant, which is a temporary relief measure rather than a permanent grant, was not included in that increase.
